More Info
Joe Rash is a defensive lineman for the University of Akron Zips football program. Joe comes form a storied athletic past where football has always been king. Joe’s father Louis Rash was a defensive back at Mississippi Valley State from 1978 to 1983, playing alongside football hero Jerry Rice. Louis Rash then went on to play three years in the NFL, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers.

Joe Rash has already started to create his own football legacy. Before enrolling at the University of Akron, Joe played football for Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At Penn Hills High School Joe Rash earned a spot on Second-team Class AAAA Associated Press All-State team in 2006. He was also ranked in the top 100 best prospects in Pennsylvania by Scout.com. During his senior year Joe Rash banked seven sacks leading Penn Hills to an 11-2 record.

After creating a name for himself in Pennsylvania as a football standout, he joined the Akron Zips program and took a redshirt freshman year during the 2007 season to develop and find a rhythm with the Zips players and then-Head Coach J.D. Brookhart. The 2008 season was a good one for Joe Rash who played in all twelve games and saw impressive tackling in most of them, including a beautiful game against Ohio. In 2009 he played in 3 games with 1 unassisted and 1 assisted tackle.

Joe Rash is eager to get back on the Akron field and prove he deserves even more game time than he saw last season. Buy Akron Zips football tickets and save your stadium seat today!
