Wayne Cobham is a defensive back with the Akron Zips football team. Cobham is a junior at the University of Akron Ohio. Wayne came to the University of Akron from Flanagan High School where he received an invitation to play in the prestigious Broward All-Star Game in 2005. As a senior in high school he amassed 66 tackles, four interceptions and three punt blocks.
In 2006 Wayne Cobham enrolled at the University of Akron in January and participated in spring practice. Then in the fall, as a true freshman Wayne Cobham played in all 12 games as a backup rover for John Mackey and on the special teams. During his sophomore season in 2007, Wayne saw all playing time in all 12 games, starting in five of the match-ups after the former starting rover John Mackey was injured in the Kent State game. Wayne also grabbed the 2007 record for most tackles in one game, pulling down 14 players in the Western Michigan game. In the 2008 season, Wayne Cobham again saw lots of game time, playing in 11 of 12 games. Wayne raked in 63 tackles, 3 pass blocks and 1 forced fumble.
